This documentation contains important information regarding safe and correct unpacking, storage, installation commissioning, operation and maintenance of lead-acid batteries.
Store batteries indoors in a clean, dry and cool location. DO NOT stack pallets. Damage may occur and the warranty will be voided. Valve-regulated lead acid batteries must not be topped up with water through their entire life. The valves must not be opened because the access to oxygen in the air discharges the cells.
What are the safety precautions when using a VLA battery?
ing terminals.Valve-regulated lead-acid (VRLA) batteries contain an explos e mixture of hydrogen gas. Do not smoke, cause flame or spark in the immediate area of the batteries. This includes static electricity from the bod Use proper lifting means when moving batteries and wear all appropriate safety clothing and equipment.Do not dispo
Sealed lead-acid battery cells or battery blocks are not sealed gas tightly. The integrated valve has to open by pressure overload. Sealed lead-acid batteries must not be opened. HOPPECKE offers numerous sealed lead-acid batteries as single cells (nominal voltage 2 V) or blocks (nominal tension: 6 V or 12 V) for different applications.
Can a lead acid battery be installed horizontally?
Therefore an upright or horizontal installation of battery cells or blocks is basically possible. The generation of oxyhydrogen gas is extremely reduced by an internal recombination circle. Sealed lead-acid battery cells or battery blocks are not sealed gas tightly.
Valve-regulated lead acid batteries must not be topped up with water through their entire life. The valves must not be opened because the access to oxygen in the air discharges the cells. BAE VRLA Gel batteries may be stored without further charging only for a limited period because of self-discharging and related chemical processes.
What is the recommended operating temperature for lead-acid batteries?
The recommended operating temperature for lead-acid batteries is between 10 °C and 30 °C. Technical data is valid for the nominal temperature of 20 °C. The ideal operating temperature range is 20 °C ± 5 K. Higher temperatures shorten the service life of the battery. Lower temperatures decre-ase battery capacity.
